About Programs

Sprout Movement was born out of the idea that if we give children and families the skills and knowledge to be active right off the bat, then we are arming them with the ability for a lifetime of physical activity.
We are breaking down barriers, enabling families to choose being active.  Whether it's indoors or outdoors, structured or unstructured, active play benefits everyone.
Our current programs focus on the Active Start (age 0-6 years) ages on the Long Term Athlete Development Model from Canadian Sport For Life.  We are creating physically literate children and families.

About Physical Literacy

PHYSICAL LITERACY: Having the skills, confidence and motivation to enjoy a variety of sports and physical activities.
Active Start Stage (0-6) At this age, physical activity should always be fun and part of daily life. Active play in a safe and challenging environment is the best way to keep children physically active.
Canadian Sport for Life is a great resource on Physical Literacy.

About Laura

Hello, I'm, Laura Spruyt (pronounced Sprout!), the founder and imagination behind Sprout Movement. I'm a recreation professional (Concordia University in Montreal) and have worked in and managed a variety of recreation settings from residential summer camps to mobile recreation outreach to out of school care.  My passion has always been to ensure everyone is able to be involved and engaged in being active.  I love trail running, skiing and playing outside with my two kiddos!
In 2017, I've been named a Run Like A Girl (RLAG) Ambassador. As much as I'm passionate about kiddos being active, I'm also a huge supporter of parents getting their own time to be active, especially outdoors.
